Are your beautiful and intricate wood pieces becoming nothing more than a mecca for dirt, grease, and grime? Well, today we will show you how to clean these pieces effectively and without ruining the wood. It is important to use water cautiously and not overdo it. Too much water can affect the glue, thus creating a much bigger problem. A good way to clean wood is to obtain a gallon of hot water and add gum turpentine (2 tablespoons) and linseed oil (4 tablespoons). Wear protective gloves and with a clean soft cloth, start wiping the wood with the concoction. The turpentine will help remove excess build-up and the linseed oil will help restore any worn-out areas on the wood. After wiping the wood, be sure to dry it sufficiently and then buff with another clean cloth. After this step, you can treat the wood with wax of your choice. Another way would be to make a solution composed of ammonia (20%) and water (80%). Dip a clean wash rag into solution and wring out. Begin wiping the furniture, but be aware that this solution may cause some discoloration on certain types of woods.
